02RULES & SAFETY

Ban & blacklist policy

What bans and blacklisting mean, who can authorize them, and how review works.

Purpose

This policy protects members, preserves community integrity, and supports consistent disciplinary decisions. Actions must be based on documented behavior—not personal disagreements, rumors, or favoritism.

Banned members

A banned member has been removed from the Discord server or clan because of a verified rule violation. Bans may be temporary or permanent, depending on severity.

Reasons may include:

  • Repeated violations of clan regulations.
  • Harassment, bullying, or targeted personal attacks.
  • Discrimination or hate speech.
  • Repeated disruptive or toxic behavior.
  • Deliberate sabotage of clan activities.
  • Cheating or unfair gameplay practices.
  • Spam, malicious links, or repeated unauthorized advertising.
  • Misuse of staff permissions.
  • Serious violations of Discord or applicable game rules.

Blacklisted members

Blacklisting is a more serious organizational restriction. A blacklisted person may not rejoin SHINIGAMI OPS unless reinstatement is formally approved.

Grounds may include:

  • Credible threats, doxxing, or intentional disclosure of private information.
  • Severe or repeated harassment, sexual harassment, or predatory behavior.
  • Serious discriminatory conduct.
  • Repeated ban evasion.
  • Deliberate attempts to compromise clan accounts, bots, or server security.
  • Malicious impersonation of clan leadership.
  • Serious abuse of staff authority.
  • Repeated targeted disruption after prior action.
  • Retaliation against members who submit good-faith reports.
  • Deliberately distributing malicious software or fraudulent links.

What does not warrant blacklisting

Members must not be blacklisted solely for:

  • Leaving the clan voluntarily or joining another clan.
  • Failing to recruit.
  • Missing optional meetings or game nights.
  • Requesting a Leave of Absence.
  • Respectfully disagreeing with leadership.
  • Submitting a good-faith complaint or appeal.
  • Personal disagreements without misconduct.
  • Poor competitive performance.

SHINIGAMI OPS maintains nonexclusive membership and voluntary recruitment.

Disciplinary authority

  • Shinigami Commander: final authority for permanent blacklisting and reinstatement. All permanent blacklist decisions require Commander approval.
  • Reaper General: reviews serious cases and recommends blacklist decisions.
  • Shadow Captain: submits recommendations and supporting evidence.
  • Soul Lieutenant: documents incidents and applies authorized temporary moderation measures.

No officer may permanently blacklist someone solely because of a personal disagreement.

Review procedure

  1. Review relevant evidence.
  2. Consider context and severity.
  3. Avoid conflicts of interest.
  4. Document the applicable rule violation.
  5. Determine whether a lesser restriction is sufficient.
  6. Obtain senior command approval.
  7. Record the final decision.

Immediate protective restrictions may be applied when member safety requires them.

Reinstatement and appeals

Temporary bans expire according to their specified terms.

Blacklisted individuals may request review after 30 days unless the decision notice specifies a longer restriction or permanent exclusion. A request does not guarantee reinstatement. Severe safety violations may result in permanent exclusion.

Disciplinary appeals should be submitted within 30 days of the decision and are separate from a later reinstatement request. Use the designated private support process.

Confidentiality

The banned and blacklisted registry is confidential. Do not publicly post private personal information, sensitive evidence, or accusations. Records are limited to legitimate moderation purposes.

This public handbook contains the policy and a blank appeal template—not a member blacklist or case registry.
